The creativity and humility of Malayalees have led to the creation of numerous magical ads. Arun Raj Kartha, a native of Thodupuzha, who has been crafting notable advertisements on a national scale, is part of this proud tradition, moving forward with strength and innovation.
Arun’s ARK Productions has quickly established itself in the competitive world of advertisement production. Hailing from Thodupuzha, a location renowned for its connection to Malayalam cinema, Arun seized the opportunity to contribute to its prominence in ad filmmaking. ARK Productions, based in Tripunithura, Kochi, has delivered ads for major national and local brands like Head & Shoulders, Tide, Star Sports, Disney+ Hotstar, Vodafone Idea, Nestle Munch, Vicks, Savlon, Ariel, Flipkart, Hero, and more.
Arun’s journey began with his involvement in documentary filmmaking, specifically around temple projects. From there, his growth into a well-recognized ad film director has been remarkable. One of his first notable independent projects was an advertisement for Double Horse, starring Jayaram. This led to further work in the FMCG sector with brands like GRT Tea. In 2010, he officially founded ARK Productions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the advertising industry faced significant challenges. However, Arun seized new opportunities when an ad agency from Mumbai reached out to him for national-level projects. This marked the beginning of his collaboration with prominent brands such as Vodafone-Idea, Vicks, Nestle, and Tide. His commercial for Star Sports’ Pro Kabaddi League was shot in Hyderabad, and other notable campaigns include Flipkart’s Big Billion Days, Hero Scooters, and Ariel. The Head & Shoulders ad made in Hindi gained national attention and was adapted into regional languages like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
ARK Productions has also ventured into international projects, producing corporate films for companies in Dubai, Qatar, and Sharjah. Additionally, they created training films for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, capturing real-life adventures at sea.
Arun has earned significant accolades for his work. Notably, the Nestle Munch campaign won the Best Campaign Award in South India. He also received the Padmarajan Award from the state government for his album song for Kanjiramattam Temple, Thodupuzha, in 2013. In addition to directing for ARK Productions, Arun continues to work as an independent director for other production houses.

In the future, Arun hopes to expand ARK’s portfolio to include web series and films. His team is currently in discussions with major OTT platforms, with an exciting web series project already in the works. Despite these new ventures, Arun’s personal dream remains to direct a feature film, a goal he is patiently awaiting the right script to fulfill.
